It’s cooling down in Texas, making it the perfect time for some outdoor fun! Shea Homes® outdoor living spaces make a fantastic setting for an outdoor movie theater. You’ll have your own drive-in style theater with these few simple items and tricks.

You’ll need a:

1. Projector
Your movie time goes from ordinary to imaginative with a simple projector. The projector can be as high-tech or simple as you like, an inexpensive mini projector will do the trick. Make sure you have a level surface to set it on during the show. It’s always a good idea to set up your projector before movie time, so your image is level with your screen and you can work out any technical issues.

2. Movie Screen
Don’t feel the need to purchase a fancy movie screen. Utilize an empty wall on the outside of your home. Shea Homes Houston stucco and painted brick elevations offer beautiful and effective backgrounds that create a clear picture for your movie nights. If no empty wall is available, hang a freshly steamed or ironed grey sheet on a wall, fence, or in between two trees for a smooth movie screen.

3. Streaming Device and Speaker
No one wants to be left watching half a movie. Keep a freshly charged Bluetooth speaker close by and connected to your streaming device or projector using the connectivity instructions provided to you. Whether you decide to use a laptop or smart phone to play your movie, you will want to have convenient access to a charger. Your devices should last the duration of the movie. Also, be kind to your neighbors and notify them of the fun your family will be having. Keep the speaker at a reasonable volume or invite them to join your outdoor movie night!

4. Fun environment
No movie night is complete without your favorite movie snacks. Gather all of your delicious popcorn and candy, set up chairs, blankets and pillows, and string up some charming lights. Then, get cozy for a family fun movie night!
