Surveying the Southwest Valley: What to do first after move-in at Alamar
Mar 29, 2024 • Phoenix Area, AZ • Acclaim at Alamar
Tucked away in the Southwest Valley is the budding town of Avondale. Like many of Phoenix’s suburbs, it has experienced tremendous growth in the past few years, bringing along great new businesses and entertainment options to pair with its natural offerings. We’ve highlighted a few within reach of Acclaim at Alamar so you know where to go.
Phoenix International Raceway: Home to NASCAR’s annual championship race, Phoenix International Raceway has become more than just a raceway. It plays host to music festivals, food truck days and charity events. You can even drive a NASCAR on the track, or ride along with a professional driver. Best of all, the track is just seven minutes away from Acclaim.
Hit the Greens: Arizona is a hotbed for great golf, and the southwest valley is no exception. Just north of Avondale is the Wigwam Resort, which has three championship courses of varying difficulty to choose from. Before you play a course though, check out the Valley Golf Center, one of the premier ranges in the country, with 60 bays, all lit and featuring trackman technology to ensure you have all the info you need to get better.
Take a Hike: One of biggest benefits about living in Avondale is the proximity you have not only to the city, but also to expansive regional parks. Estrella Mountain Regional Park is practically your back yard, while the White Tank and Skyline Regional Parks are within a quick 20 mile drive. These have an abundance of offerings like hiking, backpacking, and camping. The White Tank’s are also one of the best places in the state to go stargazing, which is ideal for the upcoming Lyrid meteor shower, expected to peak on April 22nd.
Grab a Bite: With Arizona being such a melting pot of cultures across the country, there is always a variety of great options and Avondale is no different. One of the highlights of the Southwest Valley is Eric’s Family Barbecue, which is some of the best BBQ in the state, let alone South West Valley. If you’re looking for something more international, check out Inca Fusion for some Peruvian fare. We certainly can’t leave out dessert, where we recommend Sweet Snow over in Goodyear.
